My Students

I am an art teacher, so I have the unique experience of seeing every student in my building. I am so lucky to teach all 570 of my hardworking students who I see persevere every day. Over 80% of my student population is below the poverty line and over 70% of my student population speaks English as a second language. This makes my job as an art teacher so important.

My students find success in communicating visually.

I am often the one chance they have, each day, to communicate an idea effectively without having to use words.

My Project

This will be the first year my students will have an art classroom. We are so excited! We now have an exclusive place for students to create, explore, experiment, and learn! The room has four walls, a floor, and a roof. So we're off to a great start. We even have tables but there is one thing we are missing!

My students need chairs to sit in during art class.

Students have been sitting in flimsy folding chairs that are not meant for everyday use. We've all been stuck in a meeting where we got "that" chair. You are often so focused on trying to get comfortable in the chair, it's hard to pay attention to the task at hand. Please help me get my students 10 sturdy chairs to sit!
