This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As an educator, coach and mentor of young minds at a Title I school in Georgia, it is imperative to expose children from a low socioeconomic background to an array of career fields and learning opportunities that are not readily known to them in order to foster new thinking in an ever-changing world. Nearly 87% of my students receive free or reduced meals daily and are often given food to take home so they can survive. My students are not only thirsty for knowledge but they are energized when they are given the opportunity to explore and dive into new topics.
Teaching and learning through technology serves as the engine to achieve our goal of developing innovative thinkers.
However, having limited technology and hands-on resources prohibits many students from chasing their passions and finding relationships between the content standards and their prior knowledge.
My Project
Using an iPad in the classroom can provide a diverse group of students the opportunity to work and excel at their own pace and academic level, while at the same time enhancing the learning opportunities to create innovative solution to real world problems. Students will be able to use apps and software with the Apple Pen to make learning more personalized and more engaging to develop authentic innovations for transformational society. The protective case will help ensure that the iPad does not get damage through repeated use. The headphones will allow students to hear the media on the iPad and communicate with other learners across the world.
