My PreK students are in their first year of a PreK-5 Spanish Immersion program. The students come from English, Spanish, and other language backgrounds. Our wonderful program has been in existence since the early 1990's but added PreK in 2004. It is a unique opportunity to learn a second language while focusing on social-emotional development and kindergarten readiness in a public school setting. Our goal is to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism that will last our students a lifetime.
I love to integrate art into all of the content areas of the Pre-School curriculum but am limited by the resources available in our school district and by what I can purchase on my own.
Four-year-olds love to create art!
And, they can create it out of anything! I like to stock up on permanent markers because they can be combined with any art materials in fun projects. I pair them with watercolors so that the marker doesn't run. The liquid watercolors can also be used with the droppers and diffuser paper to explore color mixing and shapes art.
