Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school with a high poverty rate. Most of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches. They come from working class people with low incomes. Our school is a K-6 with 800 students. We have a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds with many being Hispanic, Punjabi, a African American, and Arabic. Many of my students are English language learners. Our population continues to grow, and we are fortunate to have such a diverse group of kids in our classrooms.
My Project
Creating a STEM Lab for my students will ignite the engineers and scientists through hands on learning experiences. Having the building blocks to excite and engage my students with STEM will develop a passion for constructive opportunities in the future.
With engineering educational toys in our STEM Lab, my students will be constructing remote control cars, learning about kinetic and potential energy, building robots, understanding circuits, and designing bridges.
Engaging my students with educational hands on STEM projects, it will allow my students to make new discoveries, explore and process new skills, and learn through constructional play. This project will engage many students for years to come.
