Help me give my students balance ball chairs, inflatable cushions, an inflator for both and lap desks to use as flexible seating options in my classroom.
Wow! This is all I can say about my class this year. They are some of the kindest, most hardworking and responsible students I have ever had. We've only been together a month, but I can tell this group is going to achieve great things! They are mastering routines, challenging themselves and showing incredible citizenship already.
With such an amazing group this early in the year, I feel I'm ready to challenge myself and give them some more freedom in terms of where to sit within our classroom.
Currently, I have a desk and chair per student and a long rectangular table for group work. I would love to let them explore with more flexible seating options. We also rotate students among our grade level so more than just my class would benefit from flexible seats.
My Project
Many students have a hard time learning in a traditional desk and chair. The ball seats and inflatable cushions will give all of my students choices about where they would like to sit. The lap desks will provide them a work surface no matter where they choose to sit. Having a variety of options will allow my students to figure out where they are most comfortable in the classroom, and furthermore, where they learn best. When students are comfortable, they are more motivated and willing to learn. The inflatable ball pump will allow me to inflate the ball seats and cushions.
