This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Pre-Kindergarten students are enthusiastic "college bound" learners! They are intelligent, young students, but the reality is that their socioeconomic statuses and zip codes put them at an academic disadvantage, as compared to their more affluent peers. They are in dire need of having access to quality materials, both inside and outside of the classroom. However, providing them with the supplies necessary to learn in this context is a struggle due to severe budget cuts.
For most of my students, this is their first experience in a structured learning environment.
I want to be able to make their first learning experience hands-on and fun!
My Project
We are excited to move into our new 21st century school building this year! For the past 2 years, we have watched the construction and development of the new school building from our classroom windows. Observing and discussing the progress of the new school being built has been a great experience for our students. Now the wait is over! New school year, new building, new classrooms. Our students and families deserve this so much! Our new classroom is beautiful, but it is also a lot smaller than our former room.
Our current teaching cart is too big for our new classroom!
With limited space for furniture, this smaller teaching cart is needed for storage and whole group learning. Our old cart takes up too much space. The magnetic dry erase board on the cart is perfect for little learners to interact with. It will be used for message time, magnetic math manipulatives, display of big books, pockets charts, posters, and so much more! Our board is used constantly throughout the day. The eight bins on the cart will be extremely helpful in storing our many resources and materials. Students will be able to easily access the lower bins, while teacher materials will be store in the higher bins.
My students are "college bound" learners who need the requested cart to support them in their academic journey. Please help provide my students with the tools needed to be successful learners.
