We are a small town county high school with 200 students. My students are juniors and seniors. My school thrives because the teachers and administrators attempt all avenues to arrive at student success. We are always looking into innovative ways to motivate and accelerate our student population and encourage participation in extracurriculars. My students enjoy new opportunities to have experienced and participate in projects that they normally would not have the resources for or access to. Every school, no matter how small, deserves to have the same chances.
Last school year the students at this small rural high school performed their first ever play. Starting a program from scratch, we pulled together what we could to perform the play with what we had. The students learned so many theatre and acting skills that they begged and pleaded to get to do another play this year so that they could get their friends involved as well. We are anticipating doing a larger scale production and through the helpful donations from friends, family, and donorschoose we have acquired some very nice costumes.
Unfortunately, right now the nice costumes are packed in a box or piled on the ground.
We have no way to hang up the costumes causing them to get wrinkled and dirty and needing to be fixed or cleaned before each use. We have even gotten comments about our costumes being wrinkled during performances. We are desperately in need of some garment racks and hangers so that we can store our costumes hanging up while being stored or while travelling to our off-site performance locations.
