My Students

The school I work at is located in a very rural area of North Carolina. Many of our students lack everyday essentials including clothing, school supplies, and other needs. However, my students are some of the most caring, and energetic students I have ever met. We have grades 6-9 and about 50% of these students receive free or reduced lunch. With such low numbers and a high poverty level it is hard to raise money for our school, whether it be through fundraising or donations. This makes providing materials these students need to learn in a more collaborative, and engaging way a reoccurring struggle.

My Project

Students will be visiting the Biltmore Estate this year as our field trip. Students in all grade levels attending (6th- 9th) will be able to see first had, how industry has impacted our society and specifically, our state. Students will also be able to see what the ecosystems and practices are at the Fish Hatchery and how they help our environment. Our students are looking forward to this trip and as teachers, we are excited for the knowledge that will come from visiting these places. We are hoping that through this project we will be able to raise funds to allow the maximum number of students attend the field trip. We appreciate your support!
