Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are dedicated, enthusiastic, hardworking children. They love reading to themselves and to their classmates. I would like to provide books at their reading level. Unfortunately, at home they are not reading a lot; therefore, I want to provide them the time they deserve in the classroom. They enjoy listening and reading stories about almost anything. I would like for them to broaden their knowledge by reading various genres.
The students in my classroom are eager to continue on developing their reading skills.
Based on Fountas and Pinell, my students reading level ranges from AA to C. I would like to provide my students the opportunity to continue to grow and become independent readers.
My Project
The students in my classroom will benefit greatly because they will receive these books to read independently. Also, they will be able to read to their classmates during our Daily Five Component. Students will use these books to read at home to their families, practice their reading skills and build their confidence.
When my students eyes get bright and they have a big smile on their face and say, "I read the book by myself", it is a moment that brings me satisfaction and joy.
After reading these books, my English Language Learners will have the opportunity to increase their vocabulary, writing details and build their reading fluency.
