Help me give my students a space for small group instruction. This would include a table, stools, and dry erase sleeves to conduct one on one instruction.
Our school is a magnet school in Metairie, Louisiana, compromised of students in grades 6-12. The population consist of 730 students from diverse cultural backgrounds. They work extremely hard, engaging in rigorous curricular and participating in various clubs, such as Academic Games, MathCounts, Robotics, Student Council, and Yearbook to name a few.
What distinguishes us from other schools is the rigor of academic classes offered.
Our students may enter college with enough credits to complete their first semester. What distinguishes us from other schools is the lack of technology available to our hard-working students.
My Project
If my students had a designated area to work one on one with me, I will be able to give them individual instruction based on their specific weakness. Targeting specific students gives them an opportunity for reteaching, confidence building, and closing gaps in instruction. The small groups will also be used to enrich students who are more advanced and ready to enrich their skills.
Students who are pulled from the whole class will have special seating.
The differentiated seating will be an incentive to receive extra help. The dry erase sleeves will be used for showing work through direct instruction .
