This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Baltimore City, where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students come to school at the beginning of the school year with no school supplies. It is often left to the teachers in Baltimore City to provide the supplies needed in our classrooms. I am creating this project to help get my students the supplies they will need to have the best possible 2017-2018 school year!
My Project
My students need a group work table for working in small groups! The most valuable learning time is the time we spend in small groups, teaching to the level of the students in that small group. We need a table that can comfortably accommodate 4-6 students and a teacher. Currently our group work table only comfortably seats 3 students and 1 adult, so we are very cramped during small group time. If my students have a bigger, better table, they will have more room to work and in result, be more engaged and spend less time trying to find space.
