We are a Title I school, over half of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our student body consist of students with a variety of ethnicity, economic status, and social backgrounds. These students are making the progression from elementary school to secondary education.
My students are diverse groups of 7th graders seeking out lessons to aid in the adjustments of entering junior high school.
This advancement comes with social, physiological, and emotional transitions. Group sessions are conducted to help provide tools for these students to succeed the secondary education environment.
My Project
These materials will help facilitate skill building in small group sessions. The kidney table and white board allow for inclusive and tactile small group experience. Allowing every individual in the group to express their ideas.
A calm down corner is being created, to give students a dedicated space to practice coping skills.
The bean bag chairs will be placed in the calm down corner, for comfortable and relaxing seating. This corner will be free of noise, other students, and offset from other distractions.
The clothing rack will be used to organize the clothing donations we receive throughout the year. These donations allow us to provide uniforms to students in need within our school community.
