Ms. Fail from Philadelphia PA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Science Detective, Science Test Practice, Science Brain Games, Spectrum Science, and 3 other resource books to be more successful in their small groups and inspire them to have fun while learning complex science concepts.

I've been teaching for eight years and I have always run a lecture-like classroom for my middle schoolers trying my best to get them ready for high school. Although both the students and I have always felt successful in this setting, the expectations have changed at our school.
Our school is in the middle of adding grades and an administration overhaul.
The students are handling the changes well this year, but the lack of supplies for the new upper grades 6-8 is hurting us all. New administration means new rules and expectations. This year the push is for Small Group Instruction to happen in every classroom. My students are used to lecture and the lack of supplies is causing a little confusion with what the science room should look and sound like with these new guidelines. Our older students have never experienced complete freedom in a small group setting without support of the teacher every few minutes. It is only November and we are still learning this together.
Science Detective, Science Test Practice, Science Brain Games, Spectrum Science, and 3 other resource guides will make the small groups of students working independently more successful because it is all science based and linked to the national standards of science. I have ordered books on a few different grade levels and different types of activities so every student has their needs met and can truly complete the work on their own without becoming overly frustrated. I want the groups to have their own worksheets, lessons, projects, games and review activities but all on the same topic of science. I cannot wait to see how their achievement grows once we get started with these resource additions to our classroom.
By donating to this project you will be able to give the gift of a more enriched science education to a child in an impoverished city.
Empowering students especially in middle school with the love of a solid education will motivate them to continue on with their schooling and achieve higher life goals. Please help me to inspire the love of science in my classroom and get my 7th and 8th graders to the high school of their choice not the neighborhood school assigned to them.
