This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Kindergarten students cannot focus on learning in large groups. When they work in small groups, they focus better.
My students attend a very diverse/multi-culture school.
Most students are on free or reduced lunch. The upper grade students scores have dropped. Many students are living with grandparents. A few were affected by Hurricane Isaac. Kindergarten students learn best when they are taught in small groups. The assistant teacher and I work with small groups of students to practice or reinforce skills after I introduce the skill.
My Project
The easels will provide small group activities for the students. The students will sit in small groups to begin writing words or sentences. The students will work in small groups with the teacher and/or peers; therefore they will not feel threatened. The students will learn to write words and sentences using the small portable easels. The easels can easily be moved from one area to another.
Kindergarten students learn best in small groups.
The students writing on the easel boards will be fun, and the students will learn at the same time. The students can collaborate while working with peers or the teacher. The teacher can easily move the easel in any area where the student(s) are comfortable.
