Small group instruction is one of the most effective ways to impact student learning. A horseshoe-shaped table is the perfect piece of furniture to implement a small group setting. The setting is small enough to individualize instruction, all the while being able to reach a variety of students.
I am a first year teacher at a small school in Pennsylvania.
My fifth grade students are absolutely wonderful! Everyday they come into the classroom anxious to learn, which is extremely exciting! My goal, as their teacher, is to provide them with the best education possible.
My Project
In a typical lesson, there are always several students that need additional assistance. So why not incorporate a small "reteach" area? This area would be in the form of a horseshoe-shaped table. Struggling students could congregate at the horseshoe table, where their teacher would be available to provide further lesson instruction/clarification to several students at once. The setting is small enough to individualize instruction, all the while being able to reach a variety of students.
This individualized instruction is not the only advantage of utilizing a horseshoe-shaped table in the classroom. Learning centers are another engaging type of learning that are easily incorporated into the curriculum. Centers, as with many small-group learning situations, encourage social skills as students learn to communicate and interact with each other to reach desired goals.
A horseshoe-shaped table will provide the opportunity for our class to receive additional instruction in a small-group setting.
Small group instruction has proven to be one of the most effective ways to impact student learning. By donating to our project, our class will be one step closer to having the horseshoe table we so greatly need. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
