My students need supplies such as glue, scissors, pencils, and construction paper to complete individual projects assigned to them to master the GA performance standards.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students can not afford to purchase basic school supplies such as pencils, erasers, glue, and scissors. These supplies are very important in having a successful academic career and without these supplies my students have a hard time completing in-school projects to show skill mastery.
I teach at a school where most of the students come from a low-income or poverty level income house.
This makes it extremely hard to purchase school supplies. Although many of my students do not have many of the basic supplies to be successful in school, they try hard when working on performance task that have been assigned to them. They are more successful in showing mastery with performance task than taking a written test because they are struggling readers.
My Project
I am requesting resources that will help my students be successful completing everyday activities and performance task in third grade. They will use these resources to complete everyday activities and completing performance task. The GA performance standards state that to show mastery of units in reading, English, writing, and Social Studies each student should complete a performance task that would show they have mastered the specific skills for each unit. Many of the students are more successful with the performance task than with written test and this would increase their self esteem. The more the students are successful in school, the harder they will work on their academics.
By helping fund this project you will be helping students be successful in school.
Having the school supplies readily available in school to complete each performance task will make students work harder on each task. This in turn will improve their learning and ability to recognize the skills they are learning know will be used later in life.
