My students come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and often face challenges bigger than themselves before our school day even starts. Despite these vast challenges, my students come into school every day with a zest for learning that is both remarkable and contagious. I teach the most adorable and energetic kindergarten students who are all so different, and oh, so special. My students are connected through one resounding thing, their joy, and love of learning.
I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title I school, located on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My classroom is a place for students to let go of their daily challenges, to become engaged in their learning, and to be encouraged every day in a positive and affirmative way.
I believe that every child is capable of great success, despite the many challenges they face when they are engaged and given the proper tools necessary to achieve.
In my classroom, my students are constantly learning through collaboration. When my students come to kindergarten, most have never attended preschool. For those students, this is their first time socializing in a school setting. Collaborative learning is so important to the proper development of social skills and learning through engagement.
Help me give my students a small group table to learn and engage together, through collaboration!
These tables and chairs are going to provide more learning opportunities than I can name, and my students deserve to have seating they feel proud of and motivated by.
