Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, curious, and eager to learn. They enter school looking forward to our day and our morning meeting where I try to encourage and promote positive life skills, mutual respect, and communication with one another. My students know they are valued and respected.

Our school is in an impoverished neighborhood where many of my students are being raised by other family members, in foster care, or considered homeless.

Free breakfast and lunch are provided to all students as well as weekend meal bags to those in dire need. Although each day comes with its challenges, my students can count on the consistency and structure of their school and their teacher.

My Project

At the moment our school is out of extra chairs and stools. The stools are needed for small group instruction and for group work and activities. Currently, my students have to sit on the floor for any activities or crafts. It would be a joy to be able to set up a station for kids to use when making Christmas crafts.

We switch classes and time is of the essence, as we have to move every hour and fifteen minutes.

We lose precious time when students have to drag their chairs back and forth between whole group instruction and small group instruction.
