Help me give my students a space to do Math & English pullout groups. We have had to teach in the auditorium and in the hallway. Having a quiet space in our office would work so much better!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 600, K-8 graders at Morrison. We are led by a dedicated staff of leaders and teachers, and I am a new addition as Math Curriculum Specialist. We are a School District of Philadelphia school in the diverse Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia. Almost all of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunches.
Our Assistant Superintendent and several other principals toured our school this year, and EACH one made a comment about how warm and welcoming the students and teachers are at Morrison.
The students here care about each other and support each other despite their struggles. They love this school and their teachers.
I want do my best to provide this team with the resources they need to teach these wonderful kids and young adults.
My Project
These materials will enable my co-leader and me to pull small groups for math and ELA. We pull about 30 students at least once a week to work on skills they need practice on to support their work in grade-level math and ELA.
Due to lack of furniture and available rooms, we often have to teach in the auditorium, on the floor in the gym, in the cafeteria or in the hallway.
Having furniture that can fit in our office will give these students a cozy and quiet place to work.
