I work with one hundred amazing K-5th grade students as an EL (English Learners) teacher. I teach language focused lessons and provide a safe, creative and fun place to practice English. I hold all students to high standards and focus on a growth mindset.
Our EL students represent roughly 10% of our school community and bring more than 15 languages to our building.
We are proud of their multi-lingual proficiency and grateful for the diverse ideas, perspectives and values they add to our classrooms.
My students are eager to learn about the world around them and are hard workers. Their language skills and cultural experiences are such an asset to our school and I am proud to be their teacher.
Thank you for supporting my children and their families, my classroom and school, and our community!
Please help me provide reading comprehension materials for small group instruction of English Learners. I selected teaching centers that are relevant and engaging for students in grades 1-5. The materials will help me support reading comprehension in small groups. The materials will provide appropriate leveled text, vocabulary cards and text-dependent skill worksheets.
Increasing reading comprehension is a vital skill for students and it's especially important to reinforce skills for EL students in a small group.
The EL classroom will get many years of use out of these well-organized reading comprehension materials. They align with state standards and can be used to pre or re-teach EL students. They will be used as a support to general classroom learning and allow students additional practice with different text and supplemental vocabulary work.
