The majority of our students do not come equipped with standard school supplies, proper clothes, and online resources.
I teach at a Title I school where over 70 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our school educates over 600 ethnically and economically diverse students.
Despite so many obstacles, students come into the classroom ready to learn. I have a chance to reach 20 plus students academically and give them what they need to succeed. Success is not measured by where you come from but measured by one's acts to become successful.
My Project
From small group desks to small group organization and rotations, these items will help my students be successful and maximize their learning. Everyday students collaborate with one another and rotate through stations.
These small group stations include the subject areas of math, reading, spelling, writing, and language arts all of which are differentiated to accommodate personalized student needs.
Without a proper small group routine and organizational supplies students easily become confused and learning is decreased significantly.
The adhesive pockets will have a color note card to remind students what groups they are in and will be attached to their desk. The ten pocket file holders will provide them work within their group that accommodates their needs. While students are in groups each group will have a color coordinated storage bucket for group supplies. Students will also be able to display group work with the magnetic dry erase easel. While students work diligently within their groups, I can focus on struggling students in a teacher led small group. The Iris storage containers make task cards fast and ease to find, which make time management and learning more effective.
