My students need their own book bins, reading games, fluency scripts, and magnetic letters to enhance their literacy skills. Moreover, my students need whiteboards, paper trays, crayons, markers, and supply caddies.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third grade students are inquisitive, honest, and motivated. Each student is dedicated to learning more about themselves and the world in which they live. The scholars have developed a growth mindset and value effort and hard work. Furthermore, the scholars at our school strive to do their personal best inside and outside of the classroom every single day. The third grade students possess special qualities that highlight their carefree and honest natures. Each child takes risks, faces adversity head-on, and provides encouragement to peers in order to achieve success.
My Project
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have assumed the role of a third grade teacher. Where I normally would be coaching teachers in my current building, I am now working in Grade 3. Upon arrival to my new classroom, I noticed that it lacked the necessary supplies for students to feel as if they're cared for and valued. The current classroom is void of materials. In an effort to show my students that their success as students and human beings is paramount, I believe their classroom should be filled of wonderful materials that will help them achieve reading success. The book bins will personalize and help differentiate reading instruction, the fluency games will help those readers who are still struggling with foundational reading skills, the paper trays will liven up the writing station, and the markers and crayons will give students a space to create and imagine. If my students can acquire the mentioned materials, I know my students will feel appreciated and loved.
