I teach 4th grade science and math at a public charter school. As a first year teacher, I feel privileged to be in a position where I can help cultivate a love for learning in our future generations. Our charter school focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). My students come from diverse backgrounds and all ability levels.
Their energy and drive to learn are absolutely contagious.
I find that my students thrive most in a setting that promotes collaboration and real world problem solving. They absolutely enjoy assisting each other and love learning from one another.
My Project
For my project I am requesting a kidney shaped table and stools. Having a kidney shaped table with seating will allow me to give small group lessons in an effective learning space. I find small group instruction to be an effective way of learning for my students. The shape of the table would allow me to check one-on-one with each student so I can give them individual support across all academic areas.
The true strength in our classroom lies in the collaboration of learners, not in the knowledge of one expert.
This table will encourage small group work and collaboration among students during math centers and hands-on science activities.
