Small Group Intervention & Engaging Students Through Science!

My Students

My students come from all different backgrounds and cultures. They live within the same small school radius but bring so much with them from their different cultures- Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Native American, and more. They are curious to learn about each other, cultures, and what is relevant in the world today! They have very diverse backgrounds, cultures, and family life.

My Project

Learning and teaching through a pandemic has been no easy task. It has also been extremely hard emotionally, mentally, and socially. I have made huge efforts to be able to reach each of my students where they are at. Now, more than ever, each child needs to be met on their level with academics and with their social-emotional health.

The two things I feel like students need the most right now is individual and small group interventions and a LOVE for learning.

This is why I am asking for support to enhance my small group learning area with a teaching easel. I teach a large majority of my day in small groups- and having a teaching easel will greatly benefit my instruction as well as engage my students in the lessons that they need.

I am also hoping that throughout all of this pandemic that a lot of these kids still keep or develop a love for learning. I want to inspire creativity, desire to learn, curiosity, and everything in between. I have found that my students this year absolutely LOVE science. Because there is such a huge learning gap with math and language arts, science has not been a priority in third grade, yet I try to incorporate it as much as possible. I know that my students would be highly motivated by new science books!
