Small Gas Engine Tools

My Students

I am an agriculture teacher in a small rural school district that is filled with students that thrive in a classroom where they can use their hands to think and problem solve. Many of the students will find themselves in technical careers where this type of learning can be applied.

My students feel a sense of accomplishment when they can succeed at a technical skill they learned in the classroom and applied in a shop setting.

Some of these students struggle in traditional classes, so having the ability to come to a class where they aren't being tested on their memorization skills and instead can focus on skills they see with their hands allows them to thrive.

My Project

Being an agriculture teacher, I have the opportunity to work with many students who thrive when they are allowed to use their hands and minds together to accomplish a task. My small gas engines class is one where students will learn the basics of a small gas engine, identify parts, disassemble and reassemble, as well as troubleshooting. The skills they learn in this class are ones that they can take with them to solve problems at home, or to a job in the future. The tools that are currently available for students to use are outdated and missing many important pieces.

The tool sets I am requesting will allow students to engage by working in smaller groups with their own tools.

These tools will also provide more hands-on time for each individual student. Student's will learn the value of organization through being responsible for their own tool set. Having these tools will also allow more students to participate in the class.
