The students in my classroom come from low-income neighborhoods. They don't always have access to safe, clean playgrounds. They are full of energy and need a safe outlet.
Every child loves to go to the playground and my kiddos are no exception.
However, we don't have a playground on the school premises. The nearest one is a good 5-10 minute walk from our school. A few years ago, we turned part of our green space into a "Tiny Town" where the children could ride bikes, play in playhouses, and use basketball hoops.
Recently, I realized that one of the kids' favorite parts of the playground was missing. They love the slides. They would be so excited to have a slide and more in our outdoor space.
My Project
The items requested will provide more physical activity for my students. The use of the climber will enable the children to improve balance, coordination, and flexibility, resulting in fewer falls and potential injuries. The slides will help children learn important social skills like cooperative play, sharing, taking turns, and learning patience and tolerance of others' skills and physical abilities
I can imagine their screams of excitement and laughter as they play on the new toys.
The addition of the climber and slides will provide more options for play when we go outside. I also added a pretend gas pump so that they can fuel up their cars; mimicking a real-life experience.
