I want to guarantee that all my students are successful in and out of the classroom.
I have the privilege of having students for a two period block.
This is beneficial because we can really focus on creating quality work without the disruption of having to go to another class. By having the materials students need on hand, I am not placing the burden on a student that might not be able to otherwise afford supplies.
In addition, my students are bright, hard-working, kind, and compassionate. I have numerous students with individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504s. These students come from a variety of backgrounds and situations.
My Project
Currently, my students keep all of their materials in a plastic sleeve and I hold onto them in a binder. We are currently on our third drafts on some of the writing assignments and the binders I have are not big enough to hold everything. Because about 50% of my students have some type of learning support, holding onto their work has been helpful in keeping their stuff organized. I want all students to feel successful and by helping them organize their materials, I feel like they can focus on learning and not on where their materials are. In addition, we are working on an argumentative paper that involves many steps and samples and these will help my students be organized.
