Ms. Millar from Houston TX is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 25 books, a rug, and two bean bag chairs.

"You have once chance to prove your ability ... should you fail, you will disappoint many and start all over from the beginning." How often could that statement describe a situation in your life? Well, it does for the third graders in my class! They have only one chance this year to pass the Texas standardized test, the TAKS. If they fail they will be forced to repeat the 3rd grade again.
It is essential my students build their reading skills, and fast! Unfortunately, this may be difficult since they are all from a high-need community and may not have a variety of books or other resources to choose from at home. And as a first year teacher, my collection of books for our classroom library is rather limited.
Students need a large classroom library in order to improve their reading skills and increase their interest in reading. I need several books, and seating, in order to start building a quality library in an environment conducive to reading.
Your help will lead my students to discover the joy of reading and acquire the skills they need to pass the TAKS, continue to the fourth grade and thrive academically for years to come!
