My students love to work on their dry erase boards. Whether they are writing their Spelling words, practicing Math facts, or doing phonics activities, they are always engaged when they work on their boards. Since we work on them so frequently, we go through dry erase markers very quickly.
There are 23 students, 13 boys and 10 girls, in my First grade class with learning levels that are very spread out.
Overall, they are a very fun-loving, energetic, and caring group of students. There are several students in my room that have major emotional and behavioral needs and many more students have minor behavior issues that they need to work on. However, despite all of this, I am amazed at how much these students want to help each other and truly care about one another. I have seen some of the best behaved students in my room go up to some of the most defiant when they are struggling, calm them down, and help get them back on task. I have witnessed children work together to help each other figure out things they could not do on their own. I am blessed to have a great group of students that really do love to learn!
My Project
Having dry erase boards to use allows my students to have hands-on learning experiences in many subject areas that they might not otherwise be able to have. My students get excited each and every time I tell them to get out their boards. They love finding answers to problems and then holding up their boards when they hear "one, two, three, share." Hearing them cheer and get excited when they see they've gotten a correct answer is truly priceless. There have been many times when I have seen the light bulb go off for my students when they have figured something out for the first time while working on their boards. However, there have also been times this year when we have not been able to do activities that I had planned to do on the boards because we had run out of markers. If we are able to receive this wonderful gift, I know this will no longer be a problem. Receiving this gift of dry erase markers will allow my students to do endless activities in Reading, Math, and Spelling and grow as learners.
With your help I know my students will continue to have many wonderful hands-on learning experiences on their dry erase boards in Spelling, Reading, and Math.
They will get to keep having those great "aha" moments when they figure something out for the first time while working on their boards. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider supporting our class!
