This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from low-income families. They are in an ICT classroom consisting of 12 students with IEPS and special needs, and the other 16 students are general education students.

My students need more than just teaching in my class, they need life skills.

We do not only do work out of books we try to do project-based work to keep them interested. With the help of technology and hands-on materials, my students can establish a love of learning that will carry them into adulthood.

My Project

There are wonderful online programs for students these days and if course great apps. Students are much mite involved when reading on an iPad than a book. Students can learn to read with programs like Starfall and abc teach. Sonec students aren’t interested in learning to read and are sometimes 2-3 years behind where they should be. iPads can open up opportunities for them and get them interested in learning. Also with the interactive reading apps and math apps students can really take part of their own learning. Being able to engage the students with different tools is very important for teachers.
