My students range in age between 14 and 21 and have a variety of support needs including Autism, Down Syndrome, and intellectual disabilities.
My students are hard workers, have great attitudes, and are enthusiastic about learning.
They are the best students in the entire school!
I teach life and employability skills using hands on experiences and activities within the classroom and community settings. I teach skills that prepare students for life after high school by helping them to become as independent as possible.
My students desperately need a KitchenAid Classic Plus Stand Mixer. We have used our 25 year old mixer so much that it started smoking last week. We use a mixer for both our life skills and employability skills classes.
My Life Skills Cooking Class incorporates Geography and History into our lessons as we study various states and countries making dishes using the agricultural products of the area we study.
My Employability Skills classes makes and sells dog treats to fund our summer school community based instructional activities.
The skills that my students learn through cooking and baking will truly last a lifetime!
