Help me give my students sensory breaks (squishies, sensory board, fidgets, tactile items), comfortable alternative seating in sessions (sensory pillows), executive functioning skills (memory and skill-targeted games and activities), creative outlets through art expression and activities, and more!
I previously taught 3rd grade, then 2nd. As I started my teaching career, I realized the various needs that compose a classroom. I soon realized I wanted to become more specialized and support students in array of ways through the field of social work. During my MSW program, I interned in an urban magnet school for a year as a clinical school social worker.
This year I am starting officially as a school social worker in a new district, and will service several individual students and groups.
I am looking to get supplies, games and activities that can benefit my students now and in the future. Some games I request will help with executive functioning skills and skill-based exercises that will encourage use of working memory, flexible thinking and critical thinking. I will also include some items that are sensory related or stress-relieving. (plus more!) Thank you
My Project
Supporting students' mental health will have significant positive impacts on their learning, but also their well-being as an individual. Some skills students will learn in sessions are ways to effectively communicate, regulation of emotions, mindfulness and meditation, social skills, and executive functioning skills.
With various individual needs, I require various tools and stimulus for my students.
Art, play therapy, cooperative learning, critical thinking, emotion identification, and problem solving are some of the key frameworks intertwined into sessions. With the requested items, these sessions will be possible and enhance the quality of therapeutic interventions.
