Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a K-5 elementary school in a low-income, urban community. Our school has a diverse ethnic population, most of whom are English language learners. Our student population is over two thousand.
I teach visual arts to 750 students.
95% are English language learners. I teach general ed, gifted, and special needs students. They love art because they can express themselves without having to struggle with words. My students are eager to learn, and they love to create. They are bright, talented, and artistic, and they never cease to amaze me.
My Project
The requested sketchbooks will provide my students with a place to practice and visualize their ideas for the projects they work on. Their ideas will be kept safely in one place throughout the year and can easily be referred to as they work on their art projects.
Your donation will provide my students with a tool to help them develop their art skills.
Through continued practice in their sketchbooks, my students can see their progress over time. They will have their own place to express themselves freely, gain confidence in their art making, and see their sketchbooks as a place to plan, explore materials, try new ideas and not worry about making mistakes.
