Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Hands on, minds on" explains a day in our biology class. We strive to give our students the best possible experience. This includes labs, models, games, technology etc. Biology should be fun and interactive.

My students live in the inner city of Detroit.

We are a STEM based school that tries to bring our high needs students up to the level where they can compete for jobs in the modern day. My students are 99% African American and the majority of them come from low income homes.

My Project

This skeleton model will not only help build the culture of our classroom to feel like a real biology lab as it sits in the front of the room all year, it will also play a significant role in assisting students in their understanding of how human anatomy works. My students are extremely hands on and visual. Allowing them to tough and see how a human looks inside will drastically improve their comprehension.

Most biology classrooms in the suburbs have the privilege of many models and instructional materials.

Unfortunately we do not have the same resources. This model will help bridge the gap between those who grow up and go to school in the city vs. the kids who grow up and go to school in the suburbs.
