Help me give my students paper, printer, and ink to make a science reflection book of their entire year that will include pictures they have taken of nature, as well as, create projects using these materials.
I teach at a low socio-economic school of about 175 students. I teach in a self-contained classroom of 27 students. Many of my students come from a bilingual household and/or receive free or reduced meals. We consider our school very family oriented because we are fortunate to have students from several generations of local people. We live in a small rural town where everyone knows everyone and they help each other anyway they can.
I strive to make my students be the best they can be.
Several of my students voluntarily stay after school to get extra support and help with their work. My students work hard everyday to learn the concepts being taught. They are highly motivated to learn and be successful.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are to help my students create a science reflection book of their year in sixth grade. It will include art projects, science, social studies, essays, journal entries, interactive units, and pictures taken throughout the year. The students will use the ink and a mini printer to print pictures of nature for science projects. They will use the glass bottles for a science experiment on making fog and condensation. The construction paper, vinyl, plaster, paint, cardstock, and glue will be used to create a 3D weather model.
Many of my students have never had something that they create all on their own that they can treasure for many years.
It allows them to see their growth at the end of the year and reflect on what they have accomplished. The will be using the reflection book for a personal narrative. By having these items, my students will be able to explore more hands on learning, allowing them to learn by doing their own projects.
