Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students LOVE science, but our science lab is only available to them for thirty minutes every two weeks. So I must turn our classroom into a science lab!

Most of my first graders are English language learners who learn best when I use visuals and hands-on materials.

Our school is a Title I school, and students need every extra opportunity in order to succeed. My students are very motivated to learn new science terms and concepts, because they are better able to inquire about the world around them.

My Project

Hands-on science materials and coordinating books that focus on motion, matter, and plants will make a HUGE difference in the science education of my students! They are so curious about the world, and the opportunity to make predictions, perform experiments, and talk about what they've observed will boost their scientific understanding as well as their levels of English.

Please help my first graders develop a solid foundation and love for science!

With the tools to explore their curiosities about the natural world, my students will believe that they can be real scientists someday...and they will have a head start on achieving that goal!
