At our school, over 950 students come to the Media Center each week as a related arts period. During this time, students are able to use the resources in the library to conduct inquiry-based projects and assignments.
My students are aspiring engineers, scientists, innovators, and creators.
In addition to their time in the library, the Media Center also houses our school STEAM Lab, which serves as another weekly related arts period. In the STEAM Lab, students work on projects in fields of science, engineering, art, and more. The STEAM program places an emphasis with connecting curriculum to real world jobs and problems students may find interest in.
My Project
Our STEAM Lab does not have the space for traditional desks and table, which leaves more than half of the class without a place to sit. In order to solve this problem, stools for our work counter and Surf Desks for the the floor will offer a versatile and mobile seating. Students can grab a chair as they need it, or choose to stand at our counter instead.
When students are comfortable in their seating, they are better able to focus at the task at hand.
With these materials, we are giving students the choice and the personalization they deserve in their learning. Thank you for supporting our STEAM Lab!
