My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds but find common ground in theater.

They enter my room as strangers but leave as family.

Without exception I learn as much from them as they do from me. We all know theater skills=life skills.

My Project

Theater is filled with skills that are used outside of the theater classroom, and one of the most beneficial is skills students can learn are sewing and costume construction skills. These sewing machines will make it possible to teach life skills to a new group of students who will use those skills throughout their lives.

This spring we are producing Seussical, and creating the bold, fantastical, colorful costumes as a class would be such a confidence boost for my technical theater students who are overlooked and underserved.
