Our school is a Title I school from a rural area. Nearly all of the students at our school come from low-income homes. I have a class full of eager and energetic 3rd graders. They are eager to learn new things and love when they get to integrate technology to add to the learning. They enjoy being at school and are ready to learn something new every day.
Giving the students flexible/comfortable seating can be used as a motivational tool in the classroom!
I incorporate a variety of learning strategies into our daily routine. The students do independent work, group work, partner work, and teacher-led work. Every student in my class learns differently, using different learning strategies ensures that my students get exactly what they need in order to be successful in my classroom.
This is my first year teaching and I could not have asked for a better group of students to kick off my career! They have truly reminded me why I became a teacher! I love their eagerness to learn something new and willingness to give it their all every day in my classroom.
My Project
I would love for my students to have various seating options in my classroom. The students currently have an exercise ball that they take turns sitting on each day as an incentive and they really enjoy getting to sit on something different for a change.
I would place the stools at the center tables where the students go for group work that is based on their learning needs.
We have time during the day that is set aside for learning based on their own personal needs. I think the students would look forward to this time even more if they knew they would be getting a chance to sit on something different from what they have sat on all day.
