My Students

My students are diverse and love to be challenged. They come from a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

I am fortunate enough to have a number of English Language learners in my class.

They are a gift because they need more explicit, hands-on instruction that expands not only their learning, but helps enrich the curriculum for all students. I have to stretch myself in order to help these students learn in the way that is best for them.

My Project

It is critical for younger students to get up and move around the room. Six-year-olds are not ready for lecture classes. They need the opportunity to sit and stand. Changing positions in an organized way helps keep them focused and listening.

Carpet time has always been important in my classroom, but our school doesn't allow carpets now due to social distancing requirements.

The vinyl cushions would allow students to gather on the floor in the front of the room for read-alouds and class meetings while spacing themselves appropriately. The cushions are easy to clean and store.

My students would benefit from the traditional coming together, using these comfortable cushions instead of a carpet.
