Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Some of our kiddos do not have the best living conditions. Our kiddos are 80% Hispanic with a hundred percent free lunch, living on the South Side of Phoenix. These kiddos are still in need of dependable first rate equipment. I implore you to look deep into your musician heart's. Providing a foundation forever nurturing our future. Our future accompanists, lesson instructors, musical therapists, directors, producers, managers, DJ's, movie composers, video game composers, engineers, song writers, journalists...
Our kiddos inspire us, ranging from all different types of social and economic backgrounds, continuing to instill a sense of family and love in everything they do.
Giving all that they have left might mean they will do without a breakfast, lunch, instrument, or learning for the day. Thinking of others first and continuing to support and give is what they imbue and instill to all they encounter. They remind us daily that we are music and have a right to be any form of music, and in being music we must have a way and means to express this ever evolving art form. They do this with our guidance and tutelage. You do this with your funding and fortitude.
My Project
We will no longer have to endure the pains and tribulations of our past inequities. As the great Gloria Gaynor expressed so emphatically . . . "I will survive", the stabbings of the staples in the seats, "I will survive", the uneven landscape that is the band room's floor of "Hot LAVA". Curing the irregularity of our spine and elevating pose and thus self confidence, these chairs, oooooh these chairs, "We Will Survive!" Allow us to achieve optimal posture. Stand up tall! Seriously these chairs will be so much more supportive than our 20 plus year old broken, dilapidated, ensemble chairs.
