My Students

My special education classroom is a fun music and movement learning environment. Sitting still, sitting close to others, maintaining attention is a very hard task that comes easily to those without disabilities. It's not about where we end, it's about how far we've come.

My students are special education students grades 1 and 2.

My students sometimes have multiple disabilities. Everyday learning tasks that take another child minutes to learn can take a student with a disability hours, weeks or possibly months to be successful. Our school is a small one serving grades 1-4. We are a close knit community that takes great pride in our student achievements whether that be academic, social or leadership qualities.

My Project

My classroom has a tiled floor. We use the open flooring space in front of the smart board many times daily. We use it for whole group lessons, classroom yoga and brain break activities. The carpet squares I requested would allow each student to have their own space while also remaining a part of the group. The carpet squares would also alow some cushioning for our yoga and gross motor skill building.

Your donations to this project will help provide my students structure.

The carpet squares will allow them their own space which leads to maintaining attention. When you are comfortable, you are more attentive, which in turn I feel that we will make great gains.
