Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 6th grade language arts teacher. I have 6 different language arts classes filled with roughly 23 kids in each class. My school is a title I school which means many of our students are lower income. My students are active preteens who are eager to move and learn at the same time. Sitting in a desk all day can be difficult for them in the same way it is for us adults. I want to meet my students needs by providing them the ability to move and learn at the same time.

My Project

The materials I am asking for will bring comfort into my classroom. Giving students the ability to move around will allow for a better learning environment. Once students feel comfortable in their learning environment they are able to focus better. Their focus and comfort will lead to better learning opportunities and outcomes.

The carpet, pillows, and stools will better our class literacy circles and group projects by offering students a flexible seating environment.

In a language arts class we move around a lot. We enjoy discussing literature, peer editing one another's essays, and simply digging deep into our classroom library. These products will provide students an opportunity to sit with another and work on an assignment in a comfortable setting.
