This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a large urban district in Wisconsin. All of the students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch. My three-year-old students attend a full day Head Start program. Although I teach regular education, I usually have three to four special ed students each year.
My students come to school eager and ready to learn.
They also have very short attention spans and need a variety of different activities throughout the day. Children learn best when they are actively engaged with age appropriate materials.
My Project
My K3 Head Start students love science and they learn best when they are actively engaged using hands-on materials! The instant learning centers would enrich our classroom environment by allowing my students to gain a better understanding of insects and animals. My kiddos will experience textures and sounds firsthand with the mystery capsules.
Wobble chairs would be the perfect addition to our Science Center because they would allow my young scientists to wiggle while they work!
The only seats we have now are hard plastic chairs that tip easily. When you are three years old, movement is a must and being able to sit or stand as needed will allow my young learners safe options!
