My students need more flexible seating. I did not realize how much this seating would change my classroom environment! I would like to add comfy floor seats and saucer chairs.
I have a great group of students this year! They love to be up and moving around the classroom completing hands-on activities. I teach in a school where 80% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our students love school and can't wait to get to school and eat breakfast and learn. A lot of our students struggle with sitting still and have a lot of baggage from home. My goal is to make the classroom environment welcoming and safe.
My Project
Flexible seating has changed the environment of my classroom for the positive! Students have a choice as to where they would like to sit and learn for the day. A lot of students choose to sit on the stability balls, so I would like to add more to my classroom. I would also like to get flexible chairs, and floor seats.
My students line up at the door and cant wait to enter the room to choose their seat for the day.
Flexible seating has eliminated behavior problems and reduced excess talking. Many of my students have improved academically because they can focus more when comfortable.
