My students are low income, have a high mobility rate, and perform well below the state standards and their grade level. They face adversities and trauma that make school academically difficult. They often come to school unprepared and without the materials they need to perform. The entire school takes a universal screening assessment and then students come to me based on their reading scores. All of the work that we do together is computer based. They should have a mouse and headphones when they come to work with me, but they don't. My goal is to make school a positive "home" for them. I want to meet their needs and use my wish list items to give them the very best learning environment possible.
My Project
I am a first year RTI reading specialist. My room is small, awkwardly shaped, and was once the teachers' work room. I need help to make the space a place where kids feel comfortable. My students are low achieving and they work with me on targeted reading skills to raise their reading levels.
I would love 4 bar stools at bar height, I would love 5 wireless mouses and 5 headphones, and I would love a color printer and color ink cartridges so I can create schedules, graphs, and data in color.
I would like to offer seating choices with the bar stools. I need the mice and headphones for our weekly online progress monitoring assessments. I create weekly growth chart reports and the data is hard decipher in black and white ink.
