Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are as happy as you can get as second graders. They love to learn and explore! Being at a Title I school, they come from difficult backgrounds and experience the traumas that come with poverty. The majority of the students are also English Learners. In order to give them every opportunity to access the language, they need to be introduced to material through multiple methods (such as hearing, seeing, touching, speaking, etc.) As children living in poverty, they need every opportunity at learning that every other child receives. That means access to appropriate technologies and high-quality teaching.
My Project
Sitting down for 7 hours a day is a difficult task, especially if you are a small child who has a lot of wiggles! I want to give my students seats that meet their needs and that are comfortable. Having stools in the room will make it easy for me to have small group learning at a table in my room. Wobble chairs allow my students to move around and wiggle while still paying attention and doing their work. A bean bag chair is the perfect setting for my students to do work on their iPads while staying comfortable.
Flexible seating has been shown to increase learning and create a comfortable classroom environment.
I want my students to be in a learning environment where they are comfortable and confident.
