This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This past year has been so special to every human being on earth, but especially to all the children because their life has changed in a blink due to covid. Today, more than ever, education is playing and will play an extremely important role in the lives of all students. Not only did covid cause a big gap in academics, but the social-emotional part of every child has been impacted.

I have an awesome bilingual classroom with 19 students who dream about being engineers, teachers, astronauts, and to be part of building a better world.

My students come from very hard working families who came to this country looking for better opportunities and to provide their children the best education. Each one of my students contributes to our classroom in their very unique way and I have no doubt they will become amazing adults who will help this world became a better place.

My Project

First grade is a crucial year to learn how to read. Every day in my class I try my best to teach my students how to read, how to comprehend what they are reading and how to enjoy a book.

Being a 6-7 year old and be sitting in the same position all day long can be very bored.

That is why I am convinced that having flexible seating in my classroom will help them to be more engaged on what they are doing. Right now I just have regular plastic chairs and when it is time for independent reading they either sit on their desks or on the floor.

I can't wait to have a classroom with different options for seating and students smiling and engaging while reading.
