Giving students learning opportunities that present themselves as play allows for greater knowledge growth. We have a group of diverse, loving, creative kids that are yearning for learning opportunities beyond those you can find in a book.
We have two classes of preschoolers ranging in age from 3 to 5 who are ready to learn and grow.
We have a nice, large space to call our school home. We love rearranging and changing our environment to reflect themes! The students help to make their space creative and fun for everyone to enjoy.
My Project
The students are currently using dated and worn tables and chairs. The legs on the chairs tend to bend and students fall to the floor causing some chin bumps and sore bottoms. We hope to replace 4 of our chairs with wobble stools to help students with their safety and wiggles and also add another element to our flexible seating. The tables are hard to clean after being scrubbed for so many years and are so small that we struggle to fit 4 students and materials in any center. We are hoping to add new, larger group and square tables to the room. We use our tables daily for table tub or small group work that focuses on learning standards. During this time students are broken into small groups, 4 students, in order to differentiate instruction. We teachers currently have to squeeze students at tables that would comfortably fit 2 students. We also use the tables for a snack and free choice center time.
