My students are active, fun-loving prekindergarten through fifth graders who enjoy being at school. Although they each come from varied cultural and economic backgrounds, every student adds their own unique personality to our school which makes the environment fun and extremely exciting.
My school is a Title I school with approximately 95% free and reduced-priced lunch.
Our students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students enjoy learning and strive to meet their goals and overcome many obstacles that they face. They enjoy making choices with their books, activities, and comfortable seating!
My Project
Our school has many students who speak English as a second language. It has been proven time and time again that the best way for students to gain vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and speaking and listening skills is by being read to daily. Math vocabulary can be confusing for students who are native English speakers, so you can only imagine the stress it would put on a student who is still learning English. However, these words are very important for them to fully grasp the concepts. With these fun and engaging Sir Cumference books I will be able to teach math skills and vocabulary while pulling in an exciting adventure story. My students will excel if they are able to recall details from a story we read to help them solve a problem.
